It cost $5K to purchase and $35K to rebuild--more, when you factor in all the time spent. Yes, it makes for a great story (and a ton of videos), good for him. But if we're being honest, what does a used/certified 2016 Dodge hellcat cost? $40K-$46K, according to Kelly Blue Book. It took a lot of time and skill to accomplish, but time is money. Unless one has nothing but time, it isn't the best first choice.

the car is like 90% new parts at this point it would have been easier to just rebuild his donor car given that all he used from the fire car was part of the frame floor and engine i say he didnt rebuild the burnt hellcat. and not to mention how the frame in that car is considerably weaker than original due to the fire without heat treating it, its quite dangerous to use

All those poopoo'ing Sam, the part you most of you guys have no idea about, metallurgy. The fact that the whole car sat in a hot fire for how long? Did it harden the steel and make it brittle in one area, and then anneal and soften it in another. Yes it can be rebuilt, is it safe if it gets into an accident? Rumpled zones just shearing off? Structurally stiff areas just crumple when they shouldnt? Those are all things to consider.

The burnt up car is good for scrap metal that’s all ,maybe the motor block but a wast of time . I had a car burn up ,just as good as this burnt up hell cat. Went to give the title to the tow truck station as a swap for his towing service . Two days later and my car looked like it sat in a field for 50 years. It was a burnt up warped distorted piece of crap now. I would never pay money for my burnt up shell and do a complete rebuild . Nope nope nope .

Anybody saying not worth it should have bought a new one etc is nuts the lad could have bought one and burnt it out himself then rebuilt it and it would have been worth it in long term the guy has built a Yt channel from nothing amazing investment. The thing in question is whether he could do it and he showed he can bravo he has 300k subs and over a 100k views at least on every video he has 10million views on the final hellcat video. I work at a bodyshop. U do not have to remove the engine for a rail being replaced. That is wrong. Airbags are probably y #1 Hellcat was totaled. There’s more than just an airbag involved in replacement. Modules, sensors, and depending on which bag blew - depends on what components get replaced. Car #2 is not too badly damaged. The 16k mikes car is not bad either. Insurance companies will not always total a car if airbags blow. Insurance companies compare cost to fix to value of car. If aftermarket n used cars not available to do the job n only OEM is - it can total because of that. Sometimes aftermarket n used parts saves what could b a total loss. The burnt out cars - complete loss. It’s what we call OTL. Flood cars are liability issues waiting to happen - we total flood cars. Especially the electronics. If the water hit a certain level n we c that inside the car - we stop writing. It’s an OTL

He didn't spend much (35k vs turnover @youtube). He successfully completed the job. Every inch was done PROPERLY (something you struggle to comprehend). It turned out beautifully. Instead of trying to talk his viewers away perhaps you should start watching his videos so you can learn how to ACTUALLY fix something... The right way... Without paying someone else to fix your mistakes...

  76. Steve S

    Steve S8 ヶ月 前

@Ryan Mobsby Yes it will for sure. But I will never sub. IMO he did not rebuild a burnt car. He made one car from 2 cars. Basic rebody. That car is 80 percent the green car.

  77. Ryan Mobsby

    Ryan Mobsby8 ヶ月 前

@Steve S You're absolutely right. I did say that and 35k is definitely a lot taking the labor into consideration. Very good point. In the long run that build will likely change his life though 😂.

  78. Steve S

    Steve S8 ヶ月 前

@Ryan Mobsby You did say he didnt spend much. But valid points also none the less.

  79. Ryan Mobsby

    Ryan Mobsby8 ヶ月 前

@Steve S Valid points but I see you're ignoring a key part of the equation. I didn't say 35k was cheap. I said 35k vs the JPreporter turnover. He gained THOUSANDS of followers for that build. He profited considerably in the long run. Your acknowledgement (or lack thereof) regarding that detail doesn't change the fact that this build put his name on the board.

  80. Steve S

    Steve S8 ヶ月 前

How much do you think a salvage hellcat is worth? He has 35k in parts and 9 months of labor. Go to ebay sold auctions. 40K can buy you a non salvage hellcat. Do you think a pieced together car that was totaled with a salvage title is worth as much as a non salvage?
